Overlooking the Aiyura airstrip...where just a few of these experts work
Just the other week, I flew from Ukarumpa to Madang and then back again. It’s only a thirty-minute hop over the mountains—quite short compared to the nearly 24 hours of flight time when I first crossed the Pacific Ocean. But, as I watched clouds coil and drift over the Papua New Guinean scenery, I remembered once again how this short little trip required an army of people from across the world.

There was the friendly driver who transported me to the airstrip in the vehicle expertly maintained by the auto shop. The flight coordinator had called me that morning (thanks to our telephone specialists) to let me know of scheduling details, while at the hanger a mechanic fueled and checked the plane (meanwhile his wife dropped the kids off at school and made a run to the clinic), and the pilot (who had been mentored and trained in his home country) discussed the flight plan. My computer (supported by our CTS experts), traveled safely in the cargo bay in a special case (thanks to a partner’s financial gift by and managed by the finance office); nestled next to it was the coveted post office mail bag, cradling a treasure trove of letters and packages from an army of encouragers and prayer warriors back in our home countries. While I was gone, my house (managed by the housing office, cleaned by my haus meri, and kept in repair by our construction team) with its recently-stocked pantry (thanks to our buyer and the store) welcomed my housemate back from the village…

All in one short little flight over the mountains.

The need for Bible translation in Papua New Guinea is enormous—and neither I nor anyone else can do it alone. Would you consider coming alongside me as a co-laborer in this task? There are many ways you can impact the world through Bible translation!
